The event is anchored by a BBQ Cookoff and includes guest speakers, food & craft vendors, carnival games, TUFF Kids Cook-off, kids zone as well as live and silent auctions. VFW Post 4709 sponsors a Free Veterans Dinner, open to all Veterans. Evenings are capped off by Texas Country Music.

VFW Post 4709 By-Laws

The final draft version By-Laws are now posted in the Canteen for member review and discussion. Minor changes incorporating Department recommendations have been included. Once all members have been notified, they will be voted on by the Post. Leave any written comments with the Quartermaster, Bartender on duty, or e-mail them to: You may also request that By-Laws be e-mailed to you.

Once By-Laws have been approved by the Post, we will begin working on Standing Rules. By-Laws give broad-stroke guidance & procedure, while Standing Rules are much more specific, and govern how the Post runs day-to-day.

About Us

The Veterans of Foreign Wars is a nonprofit Veterans' service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members. We trace our roots back to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War (1898) and the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902) founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service. Today, membership stands at more than 1.6 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliary.

The VFW was instrumental in establishing the Veterans Administration, development of the national cemetery system, in the fight for Vietnam Vets exposed to Agent Orange, and for Veterans diagnosed with Gulf War Syndrome. In 2008, we won a victory with the passing of the new GI Bill, and were the driving force behind the Veterans Access and Accountability Act.

Besides helping fund the Vietnam, Korean War, World War II and Women in Military Service memorials, the new Disabled Veterans for Life Memorial, and the National Desert Storm War Memorial which is planned for construction.

We have many programs and services that work to support Veterans, service members and their families, as well as communities worldwide. Please check out our latest FACT SHEET or spend some time browsing our site to learn why
